United: Bonus miles for 1st- and business-class fares

United Airlines will dole out award bonus miles to customers who buy tickets to fly in the airline’s first- and business-class cabins. United says the “New Year Bonus” offer will begin Friday (Jan. 9) and apply to flights through Feb. 28.SH_290702_UnitedAirlines_N6

On long-haul flights – those of at least 3,000 miles – non-elite United frequent-fliers will earn 3,000 bonus miles when they fly in the premium cabin on fares booked in the F, A, J, C or D fare classes. Not eligible for the bonus are “deeply discounted” business-class fares, or those booked in Z or P fare classes. The “long-haul” bonus also applies to United’s “p.s.” premium service flights that fly between New York JFK and both Los Angeles and San Francisco. On shorter flights, United’s non-elite customers will earn 250 bonus miles, subject to the same fare restrictions.

United’s elite frequent-fliers will earn more bonus miles. Premier Platinum, Gold and Silver members will earn 6,000 miles on long-haul and “p.s.” flights at the in the F, A, J, C or D fare classes and 1,000 bonus miles for the deeply discounted business-class fares. Shorter flights will earn 500 and 250 bonus miles per flight, respectively. United’s Premier 1K and Global Services members will earn 12,000 and 3,500 bonus miles, respectively, for the long-haul flight and 1,000 and 250 bonus miles, respectively, for shorter flights.

United says no registration is needed and that the bonus miles will automatically be credited. The bonus miles also apply for premium-cabin tickets booked on “United-marketed flights operated by partners Air Canada, ANA, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Copa, Lufthansa and Swiss.”
