Integrity Home Pro Advises on Roof Repair Versus Roof Replacement

Integrity Home Pro counsels homeowners on whether it is best to repair or replace a faulty roof.

Roofing systems are not made to last forever, and over time any homeowner will notice his or her roof undergoing some wear and tear. The question is what to do about this wear and tear as it appears; homeowners often struggle to know whether roof repair is possible, or whether full roof replacement might be the smarter option. Integrity Home Pro, a roofing company in the Baltimore area, has addressed this common question with a new statement to the press.

“There is no one answer here, as no two roofs are the same or experience the same issues,” comments Danny Peterson, the founder of Integrity Home Pro. “Repair is often possible, especially if the issue is caught quickly, before it morphs into something more dire. In other instances, replacement is necessary, or perhaps just offers the best overall value.”

How do homeowners know which camp their roof falls into? Peterson advises having annual roof inspections. “Especially following a savage winter, having your roof appraised can be a smart investment,” he comments. “A skilled inspector can spot potential problems and address them before they snowball into bigger issues. In other words, if you have your roof inspected regularly, repair will be more of an option, and replacement may be less necessary.”

With that said, all roofs need to be replaced sooner or later. One of the factors homeowners can consider is the age of the roof. “If your roof is 20 years old or more, and if you’re starting to have issues with leaks and moisture infiltration, then it’s probably better to go ahead and have it replaced,” Peterson says. “At this point, repair work is just going to put a Band-Aid on the problem.”

Here again, regular inspections are helpful. “If your roof is showing signs of its age, an inspector can help direct you to your best, most sensible option,” Peterson concludes. “The bottom line is that keeping an eye on your roof, and giving it a regular checkup, can help you save money and make prudent decisions in the long run.”
